A shocking turn of events today in Tampa, Florida as the University of Southern Florida announced that Skip Holtz and most of his staff have stepped down as head coach of the Bulls after starting the season 5-6 and heading into the regular season finale against #16 Rutgers. With many wondering who will take over for the Bulls next year, it was announced that Zac Connally, previously of the video department, will take over this weekend and try to get through the massacre that is sure to happen in New Jersey.
While little is known about the man that will soon be coaching this weekend, it is for sure that USF will conduct a thorough search in the offseason. President Dr. Judy Genshaft , said in a news release that she expects a tireless and complete search for the new head coach will happen once the season is completed. "We hope that by starting now, we will be in a position to secure someone who will lead this team, and this university forward through the upcoming changes and into a new era in USF football."
To get to that point though, USF will have its hands full with the opponent in front of them on Saturday. They will be gearing up and heading north to face Rutgers in what should be the last game of the season for USF. Rutgers should use this game for little more than a tune up before the bowl season starts.

"The Bulls Win.....THHHHEEE Bulls Win!!!"
That was the call heard across the radio waves Saturday night after USF pulled off one of the greatest victories in program history by upsetting the #16 Rutgers Scarlet Knight in Piscataway, NJ on a last second touchdown pass.
USF took the field with a lot of hope for the opening kickoff, but by halftime, that hope had turned to despair as Rutgers ran out to a 24-0 lead at the half. What happened after the teams retook the field though was nothing short of amazing. When asked about it after the game, star DE Aaron Lynch said the the halftime speech was a big turning point for the game. "Mr. Connally came in and gave probably the least expected speech I have ever heard. He didn't yell, he didn't scream, but he definitely challenged us to come out a make a better showing than we did in the first half."
Whatever was said, it worked. USF came out and immediately set about changing the tone of the game as they forced Rutgers into 4 consecutive punts while the offense scored TD's on each of the first 4 drives to take a shocking 28-24 lead late with only 1:10 remaining in the 4th quarter.
However, Rutgers would not be done. They would get the ball back and proceed to hit out route after out route and drive the length of the field to answer with a touchdown of their own with :30 remaining in the game.
The Bulls though would get a great return on the ensuing kickoff and set them up near midfield. However, on the first play from scrimmage, Floyd would be sacked forcing the Bulls to use their last timeout. After a quick first down connection to the TE Carlton, Floyd would throw two incomplete passes bringing up 3rd down with only seconds remaining at the 32 yard line of Rutgers.
Here is the call that was heard on the final play: "USF comes set at the 32. 10 seconds left in the game, 3rd and 10. 4 wide recievers, trips right. HB Battles goes in motion to the left, they fake the handoff to him on the way by..... Floyd drifting back....looking to his left for Dunkley but he's well covered. He throws down the middle to Mitchell who is wide open! They left him wide open! Touchdown Bulls! The Bulls win.......THHHHEEE Bulls WIN!!!

After surprising the Rutgers Scarlet Knights and becoming bowl eligible, no one saw the next surprise coming. USF is going Bowling! They will face the Houston Cougars 8-4 (6-2) in the Beef O'Brady's Bowl in St. Petersburgh, FL.

Because its the worst bowl game known to college football. Its one step above not playing in one. Its like the Hawaii bowl. They invented one so the home team could play in one rather than be left out every year.
